Stafne bone cavity (SBC) is a rare mandibular defect that was first reported by Stafne in 1942. It commonly presents as a well-demarcated, asymptomatic, unilateral radiolucency that indicates lingual invagination of the cortical bone. These lesions are usually discovered by chance, mostly through conventional radiological examinations.
Asymptomatic radiolucent lesion below the mandibular canal in posterior mandible Mostly they are unilateral As they remain stable in size also known as static bone cyst. Defect is developmental in nature. In biopsy it's shows normal salivary gland mostly stating that it's a developmental defect containing portion of submandibular gland.
