Carnoy’s solution

• Stoelinga and Van Hoelst proposed chemical cauterization using Carnoy’s solution as a more conservative approach for enucleation of large keratocyst
• Carnoy’s solution is a fixative composed of 60% alcohol, 30% chloroform and 10% glacial acetic acid, 1 gram of ferric chloride
• Application of Carnoy’s solution promotes superficial chemical necrosis and is intended to reduce recurrence rates
