Amalgm Clinical Cases

A 60-year-old male came with complaints of difficulty in chewing for one year.  The patient had surgical resection of the naso-pharyngeal tumor along with radiotherapy. Examination revealed no muscle tenderness or TMJ dysfunction. On soft tissue examination of the oral cavity, blanching of the buccal mucosa with melanin pigmentation was noticed. Hard tissue examination showed multiple root stumps in both the arches. The patient had chewing difficulty due to which of the following reason?

1.Recurrence of carcinoma
2.Surgical resection that left a defect
3.Radiation-induced caries
4.Poor physical and manual dexterity post surgery
